About the Company

In 1956, Proctor and Gamble, a leading Fortune 500 Company, opened its manufacturing operation in Iowa City. It was the second plant P&G built for producing health and beauty care products. The Iowa City plant is located on 85 acres along Lower Muscatine Road, just off Highway 6 East. The plant employs about 600 men and women. In addition to production, packaging, warehousing areas and meeting rooms, the facilities include administrative offices, analytical laborities, a cafeteria and a medical department. The products made at this facility are: shampoos and conditioners (Pantene, Head & Shoulders, Herbal Essences, Aussie and Infusium) and oral rinse products (Scope and Crest ProHealth). All are distributed nationwide from Iowa City.
