About the Company
The Marion Chamber works on behalf of more than 250 businesses of all sizes to drive commerce, community and cultural opportunities for members in our community. We champion various economic and community development efforts throughout the community. We offer various networking and educational opportunities to our members through PM Exchanges, Lunch and Learn events, legislative forums and hundreds volunteer opportunities.
We also implement free community events such as the Uptown Marion Market, Christmas in the Park, Downtown Getdown and Marion Movie Night. These events allow us to showcase our community and provide marketing opporutnities for our members. Sometimes we are the first stop a new visitor makes, when coming to our community, first impressions are key to building a great brand for the community.
Our organization is funded through membership and sponsorship sales, so a lot of time is spent on growing and retaining our membership.

Education Opportunities
Advancement and/or Leadership Opportunities
There are many leadership opportunities with our organization. Typically we have our interns plan events or take charge of a single event from start to finish. They will reserve the space that's needed, hire all of the service which might include sound and stage, bands, vendors etc. and coordinate all of the volunteers.
At the Chamber, it's our job to serve our members- hundreds of businesses, so you also have the wonderful opoprtunity of meeting and working with the business leaders of all of those organizations- all different sizes from hundreds of different industries.
Work Environment
Marion is a rapidly growing community, full of progresive people who are looking for new opportunities and ways of doing business. We have a small office, so we look for professional, creative people who are excellent at multi-tasking. You will be successful if you're good at switching tasks quickly and you love meeting new people on a daily business. Our office is open from 8am- 5pm, Monday through Friday. We execute many events throughout the year that happen after, or before business hours, so a somewhat flexible work schedule is required.
A chamber is sometimes described as "the booster club for your community", that being said, a positive attitude is a requirement for this line of work.
We create all of our programming and marketing so event planning, continuing education, marketing and writing are great skills to bring to the table.
Strong communication skills are required to engage new members and retain existing members and keep them excited about chamber happenings.
