This role exists to provide controls engineering support to assigned product lines. The key customers are the engineers, Process Centered Owners, manufacturing, purchasing and vendors, Technical Service Team, Field Service, and our end customers. The deliverables from this role are electrical engineering design, programming for logic controllers and visualization interface, and technical support.

This position is expected to complete all phases of the assigned accountabilities to successful conclusion within appropriate scope, time, and cost for standard engineering projects. This position is expected to complete the assigned accountabilities with minimal support from the Controls Manager and peers in the controls team. Assignments to product lines will typically be newer and mid market level models with occasional sale order specials and product extension assignments. A solid technical knowledgebase for design and programming is established within this individual, to where they are able to handle most assignments and a standard level of technology with minimal support. This individual should be able to provide a reasonable amount of support and training to lower level staff on most subjects, and be able to coordinate a portion of their work through others. This individual should also be capable of identifying and producing moderate level standards, engineering tools, and process improvement initiatives with some direction from the Controls Manager.

Accountabilities
 For assigned product lines, maintain a fully documented and accurate electrical design and control program that complies with established Evergreen and industry standards.
 Maintain a cost balance for the electrical design that achieves the lowest base cost with the highest manufacturing efficiency and lowest warranty. This balance should also account for the highest operational efficiency and lowest maintenance requirement.
 Produce electrical design/program changes to support sale orders, product improvements, and change requests/non-conformances for assigned product lines.
 Provide timely, complete, and consistent technical support to internal and external business customers as required in support of assigned product lines.
 Support the Controls Team to increase output, standardization, and repeatability of designs and programs through developing and continuously improving engineering tools and work processes.
 Maintain at minimum a 30-day backlog of all assigned non-conformances.

 Degreed Engineer (preferably electrical, will consider mechanical or chemical).
 2 years professional experience related to this position

Stephen has been working in the field of information technology for over 12 years, including 10+ years at Alliance Technologies. Stephen provides critical network design and system administration expertise for Alliance Technologies’ customers.  Stephen also helped implement our Cloud computing environment which consists of a 4 node VMware cluster connected together with Cisco Nexus 500 Series and has a backend of a EMC CX4-120. Stephen’s wide range of expertise includes design and implementation for Server Virtualization, Storage Area Networks, BGP Multi-Homed Internet, Advanced VPN, Wireless Networking, Windows Linux and Solaris Server Administration and Linux based Product Development. In addition, Stephen has played a lead role in helping design two Data Centers. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Engineering from Iowa State University, is a Cisco Certified Network Associate, is a Compellent Certified Installation Professional, and is a Novell Certified Linux Engineer for SLES 10.

“Education in the 21st Century”: Nadene Davidson, Assistant Professor and Interim Department Head, University of Northern Iowa
Dr. Nadene Davidson is Interim Head of the Department of Teaching and Director of prek—12 Collaboration and Innovation in the College of Education at the University of Northern Iowa.  She earned National Board Certification (NBCT) in the area of Early Adolescence through Young Adulthood/Career and Technical Education.  Dr. Davidson is a former pre K – 12 administrator and classroom teacher in the areas of special education, family and consumer sciences, and health education.  She co-chaired the Iowa Department of Education’s (IDE) development of the 21st Century Skills of the Iowa Core (IC) and Universal Constructs (UC).  She is UNI’s co-principal investigator for the Iowa Teacher Quality Partnership (ITQP) Grant focused on effective teaching and learning and serves on the Interstate Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (InTASC) Core Standards update review committee sponsored by the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO). 

“Ethics”:  Richard McCarty, Lecturer, Tippie College of Business
Rich has 34 years of management and professional experience in the following industries: parts manufacturing, hybrid seed research & production, computer hardware/software design & production, wholesale distribution, banking and securities investments, maritime transportation, and the aluminum industry. He received his Series 7 Brokers license in 1991. Rich served in the United States Marine Corps from 1968 – 1970. Since 2004 Rich has served as a lecturer for the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center at the Tippie College of Business.  Rich also earned a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Accounting from The University of Northern Iowa.
